Opening weekend of this year's PrideFest at The Tank is going to include The Late Night Radio Fest, two listening parties for my radio plays with decidedly queer subplots. Friday, June 19th will be a night of suspense: The Strange Case of Nick M. concerns a podcaster who stumbles upon recordings of some questionable medical experiments conducted on a concert pianist with a memory disorder. Saturday, June 20th will be pure comedy as Price in Purgatory follows the late, great, camp horror icon Vincent Price as he embarks on a Dantesque journey with a lookalike spirit guide. Both shows are pre-recorded, although these strictly audio experiences will come with a novel twist: Eye masks will be provided.
The Strange Case of Nick M. was commissioned and produced by Imago Theatre in conjunction with K-BOO Community Radio in Portland, Oregon and features a cast that includes Sean Doran, Stephanie Woods, and Danny Gray along with Nancy Campbell and Vanessa Hopkins. Sound design was by Myrrh Larsen; direction, by Jerry Mouawad. Price in Purgatory was initially financed in part by public funds from the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, the NYC Council, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council with additional assistance from All Out Arts. The cast includes Mike Pinney, Jmar Reid, and Sai Thibodeau Bhattacharya. Direction and sound design was by Douglas Wagner.
Tickets are now on sale at TheTankNYC.org.
