Press: Korean Grindhouse

Shortly before I began working in the digital media department of AMC Networks, I started a blog devoted to Korean movies as a way to get a handle on this particular form. I'd done some blogging for nymag.com previously, specifically in an episodic fashion for the TV show So You Think You Can Dance but I decided to pick a topic in which I might stay interested, longer term, for my new "practice site." And so, on October 12, 2007, I launched Korean Grindhouse, an online fanzine devoted entirely to Korean movies. My first blogspot post was on Park Chan-wook's Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance; my last one (as of May 6, 2025) was for Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17. In the interim, I've seen and written about over 950 films over nearly 20 years. The website now averages over 10,000 views per month and recently was cited by Feedspot as one of the Top 30 Asian Movie Blogs for 2025. Will I continue my Korean movie blog until I'm dead? We shall see! My interest in Korean movies has certainly not waned.
