Press: "Diabolically Good"

The official launch of Diabolically Good: The Movie Career and Afterlife of Horror Icon Vincent Price at The Bureau bookstore at NYC's LGBT Center is right around the corner. So now seems a good time to share the positive press this hybrid anthology -- half radio play; half movie guide -- has received thus far. Thus far, I've garnered a pair of reviews and a pair of interviews as well as a mention in The Criterion Collection blog The Current, which was a completed bucket list item that I didn't even know I had. The title also had a brief moment on two Amazon bestseller's lists: Horror Movies (#77) and Movie Guides & Reviews (#91). May Vincent Price's spirit move the book to climb these ranks again. Meanwhile...

  • Carl Rollyson for The New York Sun: "(a) pithy entertaining survey of Price’s body of work."

  • Charles Rammelkamp for London Grip: "an astounding compilation of a stage play and filmography analysis, and thus, another unique addition to the author’s oeuvre."

  • Anushka Bidani for Headcanon: "The book sharply oscillates between the dream-like world of the purgatory and earth-bound film reviews; the holy and the human, the divine and the mundane." (interview)

  • John Visconti for John V's Eclectic Avenue: "...features Drew’s fabulous radio play Price In Purgatory, as well as a marvelous guide to Price’s filmography, featuring Drew’s astute, witty and sharply observed thoughts and reviews." (interview)

You can purchase the book on Amazon or Bookshop.
