Poem: "This Little Light" at "Molecule - a tiny lit mag"

Despite the college campus on the hill with its more modern architecture, much of Johnson, Vermont feels rooted in the past. The Barbara White Studio Building dates back to 1830, the Church Studios to 1855, and the Red Mill to 1917. You can truly see History all around you when you're in residence at Vermont Studio Center, an old-fashioned reality also reflected in the procedural steps required for building a bonfire behind the Schultz Sculpture Shop. Nothing too complicated. Nothing non-sensical. Just enough to merit a 50-words-or-less poem for Molecule - a tiny lit mag.

This Little Light To build a bonfire in Johnson, Vermont, you need to get sign-off from

your sponsoring institution,

the sheriff, and the fire marshal.

Only then can you put three logs

in a pit and shiver under the stars

while the smoke gets in your eyes.
