On a very rainy Sat., Apr. 25, I had the pleasure of reading two poems ("Apocalypse" and "Past Due") at In Other Words, the 35th anniversary celebration for A Gathering of the Tribes held in the basement of the Tompkins Square branch of the New York Public Library. Other participants included Tracie Morris (who read about Prince), Pamela Booker (who read about revisiting Brooklyn), Pamela Sneed (who read about sidewalk rage), Reg E. Gaines (who performed alongside musicians Calvin Gaines and Mark Wilson) and Nancy Mercado (who read a piece she'd recently delivered to the United Nations). AGOTT archivist Tracie Dawn Williams organized the event. Poet Bob Holman hosted.
