About the event
In this six-session writing workshop, poet Drew Pisarra will immerse writers of all levels in potential strategies for sonnet-writing, exploring fresh ways of approaching material while studying classical and contemporary examples of the form. Gradually building skills (and confidence) around rhymed couplets, metered stanzas, and even tactics around personal disclosure, each session will focus on a different type of sonnet while providing historical context, facilitating in-class readings, and assigning generative, take-home exercises designed to encourage students to create freely in their own personal exploration of this poetic form. The workshop will culminate with a class chapbook featuring sonnets from all participants.
To register for the class, head on over to the Poets House website.
